4pm - Spirituals served as a way to unify and bring slaves to freedom, to inspire marchers and protesters during the civil rights movement, and to move and inspire audiences around the world. Featuring spirituals arranged for string quartet by Frederick C. Tillis and powerful works by the Pulitzer-Prize-winning George Walker, join Denise Dillenbeck (Concertmaster, Yakima Symphony Orchestra) and Yakima Music en Accións Alexander Pualani (cello), Stephanie Hsu (viola), and Vanessa Moss (violin) for a multi-genre experience that will celebrate the progress this country has made and reflect on the work that still has to be done.
